Letter from the President
Dear Friends of the House of Esther,
As a mother
and community leader, I recognize the heartfelt need to help steer young ladies
to a strong and healthy self-esteem.
Today, statistics say that several dozen teenage girls are defining
their purpose and identity through pregnancy.
Whatever happened to trying to model after an educator, philanthropist
or a parent?
Many of our
young ladies are getting ensnared by the role of “house playing” to awaken and
find out that there is much more to taking care of a baby.
With the twenty-one
young graduates that have come through the House of Esther Ministries, our
ladies have found that it takes other hands to help them care for their
child. They understand the need for
strong grandparents, dedicated friends, educators, medical assistance and other
outside resources that help to make up the successful lifestyle for their son
or daughter.
Adolescents
are unlikely to seek prenatal care because they are afraid or embarrassed. This factor and the immature physical nature
of adolescents result in higher rates of low-birth weight babies than in any
other age groups.
That is why
the House of Esther Ministry and friends like you help to make it possible for
our girls to remove the wall of embarrassment and get the medical care needed
for themselves and their unborn child.
Through healthy nutritional meals and proper guidance from our medical
staff, our girls have given birth to strong and healthy children.
Just
recently, I had the opportunity to see one our babies who is now a healthy 5 year
old boy attending preschool. Joshua now
has a chance to fulfill purpose in life because of great supporters like you.
I would
encourage you today, to continue to stay involved in the life of House of
Esther Ministries. These young ladies need your support more than ever.
Please
continue praying, volunteering and supporting the vision of reaching one life
at a time. Also, you can be a voice for
this vision, by sharing the great things that are happening at the House of
Esther with your co-workers, families, politicians, medical personnel and other
community leaders.
Thank you
for your generous donations and support throughout the years. Friends like you
help keep hope alive in our girls’ hearts.
Janeen L. McBath,
President
